About Me

About Me

Whether you are a parent looking for an ally, a teacher wanting to level up, or a district seeking to realize your vision of equity and inclusion, I have the experience to guide you in your goals.

I work nationally as an educational consultant to help parents, teachers, and schools build inclusive educational programs. I make every effort to listen to my clients’ needs, respect their values and goals, and empower them to make informed decisions. My professional background includes over 15 years of experience as a general educator, special educator, ABA therapist, and BCBA consultant.

I specialize in Individualized Education Program (IEP) development, Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), collaborative planning and co-teaching for inclusion, lesson planning and modifications for students with significant support needs, systematic and explicit instruction, data collection and analysis, applied behavior analysis, and classroom management.

Mission.

My mission is to empower parents and educators with the tools they need to advocate for high-quality, inclusive educational programs.

Vision.

My vision is for all students to flourish in their “least restrictive environment” with highly competent teachers and well-supported parents.

My Background

I started in the field of education over 15 years ago in Washington D.C., where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at American University. While an undergraduate, I worked as an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapist with young children with autism. Upon graduation, I taught middle school science in a large, suburban school district in Maryland. It was my work as an ABA therapist that led me to complete my master’s degree in Special Education at Vanderbilt University. While in Nashville, I taught students with a vibrant range of abilities and needs. Eventually, I became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) working for a large, urban, public school district as well as for families as an ABA consultant and advocate. Most recently, I earned my Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University where I focused my research on improving instruction and inclusion for students with significant and extensive support needs. Currently, I am an Assistant Professor of Special Education at the University of Oklahoma.
